Last week there was a rumor that Al Jefferson could be traded to Phoenix in exchange for Amare Stoudamire. The Wolves reportedly would also include their #6 pick in this draft. Upon reading that I almost barfed. I really think Al Jefferson is worth more than that. It's hard to say who really is the better player -- they have different styles. But Jefferson's numbers are superior in terms of rebounds, points and blocks.
I've also read that a lot of people have interest in obtaining Tyson Chandler from New Orleans. Paired with Jefferson I think he'd cover a lot of the defensive weaknesses that Al has.
Both trades individually seem unlikely and probably have some huge cap ramifications. But put them both together, with potentially acquiring a point guard of Rubio or Flynn status, and you have yourself a pretty good run-and-gun game.
If the Wolves can land Amare without giving up the 6th pick, and can make a sequence of moves that land Chandler from New Orleans (like Miller+Smith) and the #5 pick+Etan Thomas from Washington for some form of Foye+expirings+#18 pick and consequently spinning #5 and #6 to Memphis for the #2 overall pick and landing Rubio you might have a core that looks like:
Rubio - Amare - Chandler - Love
